Child illness and child undernutrition often coexist, so addressing both simultaneously is necessary to ensure that children survive and thrive. Recognizing this, in October 2018, USAID in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organization (WHO), and MCSP hosted the Improving Nutrition Services in the Care of the Ill and Vulnerable Newborn and Child Workshop in Accra, Ghana. At the workshop, representatives from global technical institutions worked with seven country delegations to create country action plans to strengthen nutrition services delivered to children under-five through routine management of illnesses at home, in the community, and at primary health facilities.
Join USAID Advancing Nutrition and MCSP to learn about important outcomes from this workshop and to discuss progress made at the country level to institutionalize and operationalize country action plans. During this webinar, we are delighted to have Ghana and Mali country teams share their perspective and to launch the workshop report.
Opening remarks will come from Anne Peniston, Deputy Director of the Office of Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition, and Chief of the Nutrition and Environmental Health Division in USAID’s Bureau for Global Health. Discussion will focus on the launch of the related workshop report, with country presentations from Ghana and Mali.
