On October 2nd, MCSP held a webinar to present and discuss key gender strategies to promote gender-sensitive services and to engage men in reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (RMNCAH) at both facility and community levels. This included:
- Policies and guidelines;
- Use of quality improvement standards and processes; and
- Gender transformative workshops.
Moderated by Niyati Shah, USAID’s Gender Team Lead, the event was led by MSCP gender experts who presented country case studies, program tools, and achievements – all with an eye toward understanding what works, promising approaches, and the unfinished agenda for addressing gender inequities that impact RMNCAH. Speaking to the global communities of practice for RMNCAH and gender, the objectives of the hour-long event were to:
- Highlight the range of gender-responsive approaches implemented under MCSP, including:
+ Gender-sensitive, respectful service delivery;
+ Male Engagement and equitable couple decision-making; and
+ Gender and health policies. - Present key achievements of the above gender-responsive approaches, including institutionalized efforts to increase their sustainability.
- Share key lessons and reflections on integrating gender into RMNCAH programs.
