MCSP provided technical assistance to Zambia’s Ministry of Health to implement a reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and nutrition (RMNCAHN) Continuum of Care program from 2017-2018. MCSP worked in each of the 42 districts in Muchinga, Southern, Eastern and Luapula provinces, providing demand-driven technical assistance to Zambia’s Ministry of Health at the national, provincial, district and facility levels.
MCSP’s support focused on district capacity strengthening to conduct evidence-based planning, multidisciplinary RMNCAHN mentorship, and facility service quality assessments, and to facilitate clinical trainings, utilization of scorecards, and Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) tools for program decision making and hands-on facility level clinical mentorship. In 2018, MCSP conducted a two-phased assessment to document lessons learned from implementing this unique technical assistance model within the RMNCAHN program context. This information will be useful for scale up of this model to other settings.
